The Jewish Bible is not a book of easy answers—it is a melting pot of overlapping narratives and ideas, and it has sparked endless debate through the ages. Struggling with Scripture: A Surprising Introduction to the Tanakh is a four-week class that explores the theologies embedded within the biblical text, the complexities of its authorship and editing, and the diverse tradition of Jewish interpretation.
Approaching the Bible from an academic yet distinctly Jewish perspective, this class examines how ancient Israelites understood their god(s), how the Tanakh evolved and transformed over time, and how Jewish scholars across generations have wrestled with it.
